Hit and run

Today in the kitchen my sister and i were talking about the cool gay guy that walks around PCC who always wears the most AMAZING clothes! He has the sleekest pointy toed shoes and leather messenger bags that i would rip off his body they are so amazing! My sister looks at me and says: "See i would run up and steal his shoes. Just run up and grab his shoes off his feet while he's upright! Then run away and be like 'Thanks buddy'!"
Oh the plans of my sister.

got a case of the Munchies!

So this school year my sister has a very busy schedule. She has class early in the morning until late at night on most days, and if she doesn't have school she has work. She is at home so little now. This tiny time space that is allowed her means she doesn't really have time to do anything that complicated while at home, that includes eating. When she wakes up she takes a fifty hour long shower and then has no time to make anything to eat so she ends up grabbing some left overs. On occasions she comes up with strange concoctions with different foods. One of the strangest: Guacamole and raviolis. But most often she just eats something simple like pop-tarts or cereal or she buys something at PCC.
My mom: "Ayla, you scare me! Your already eating like a college student and you still live at home!"

we were sitting around the dinner table and my sister was reading entertainment weekly and the review of Danny Boyle's new movie 127 hours came up. The true story of a canyon climber who got trapped with his hand under a boulder. Unable to get free he had to cut off his own hand. This is an awful situation for anyone to be in and we were feeling very sorry for the man but reading interviews with showed him to be very reconciled and rather jocular. His book is titled Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

Well my mom said he looked like someone a friend of ours would date. then my sister spoke up with "i don't know if she goes for stumpy men, he' be like come here and i will stroke your hair." then imitated a stump hand stroking hair. because she is a horrible person and that is what horrible people say.

Eating, talking and more eating

My sister, i kid you not, can walk through the kitchen and snack on at least five things at once. Sometimes more. Chips, hummus, apples, spinach dip, cookies anything remotely dip-able doesn't stand a chance. It will be found, smothered in a dip, mashed by teeth and disappear down her throat. Now while she is consuming veggie chips or some other crunchy delectable, she is talking. She talks all the time, even if i am clearly reading she will chatter away not really caring that i am engaged in a conversation with a book character.
Don't get me wrong, i love my sister. When she broke up with her boy friend i got all her attention back, which includes all her conversation. I feel very privileged when she talks to me but i find it increasingly hilarious that she can talk to me weather or not i am listening.
I do not intentionally ignore her. She comes in and starts talking when i am already engaged in reading. usually i then start to pay more attention to her then my book. She is hilarious!

Last month as our family vacation we went to New York City. oh the glamour!!! it was a blast! we saw tons of plays and musicals, we took the subway every where! on the day we went to the Statue of Liberty there was a wicked wind blowing across the ocean as we sailed over to Liberty Island on the fairy. my sister had her camera out and we had fun with it! posing, pretending to fly away or be blown away! We will defiantly go back to gusty NY for some more fun!

GGGAH!!

i was washing the dishes this morning and my sister had just finished vacuuming the couch. she packed up the hand held vacuum to put it up on the shelf where it belongs but as she lifted it up some sand that got stuck in the box poured out of a crack into her eyes. i hear "GGGAHH!" from the laundry room and then a grunt, some yells, the thumping of stuff falling then my sis comes running out to the open back door and with an angry scream she violently hurls a box of trash bags into the yard. she stands there breathing hard then goes out and retrieves it. oh, my charming sister.

1 step too far

after our youth group finished up we were all hanging out in front of the building waiting for rides and parents to pick us up. the conversation started with me telling everyone about me and my sister sticking headphones up our nose and opening our mouths (this really dose work). then everyone started telling about what people could do with odd things that they somehow put in their bodies. "i know someone who can partly swallow a noodle and then pull it out their nose!" in sarcasm someone said "i can eat a noodle" then my loverly sister says "and pull it out the other end!" cheesy smile, grossed out screams and a laughter is what followed.

BATMAN justiccimo

On sunday my sister went to help a friend film a music video for a talent show. It was an opening song to an Italian Batman TV show. Today we were wondering how to spell the Italian word for justice which is Justicimo. we didn't know that so my sister said "justicee- mo alaah bametoa mala!" well now we know what language she is NOT bilingual in.

Louis!!!

My sister was on the computer with a friend choosing a graduation invitation. She had to email a picture to the friend and while waiting for it to send a Louie Armstrong song started playing. My sister seemed to switch her voice from her mouth to her throat and started singing in voice not unlike a horse muppet. She spontaneously would sing a line of Louis every few minuets and then keep doing whatever she was doing before. Finally she started singing and then coughed and choked a little. Smiling sheepishly she stopped singing.

the bright future

on sunday after church my family, my sisters boyfriend and some friends of my parents went to lunch. while the parents were busy discussing media and politics us teens were daydreaming and planning our future retro diner in Oregon. After planning the inside of it we thought then we could have our art studios in a retrofitted barn in the back (talking about it made it sound a lot cooler then writing it down) and we'd park my seaplane and sail bout outside as well. Then my sister, being her, had an idea: we must dig a canal that goes through the diner and kayak to work everyday. oh wait no we should, like, get a mini-submarine with the little seeing thing! So it kept going and we laughed but then it reached the point where now Ayla will be riding an organ, the musical kind, pulled by dolphins through the canal to work everyday. Like King Triton!!!

? o_0 ?

Ayla turns to me wide eyed with enthusiasm "you know what feels like boggers?"
so me and Ayla, my sister, were home alone and hanging out in the kitchen because thats where all the food is. we were talking about some random thing and then her eyes open wide with excitement "you know what would be cool?" she says enthusiastically "if you could poke your eyes and tears would squirt out at people!" i look at her in disbelief as she illustrates her idea by making spraying noises and making gestures away from her eyes with (unrealized by her)her certain special fingers. after a few seconds she realized and stood there glancing around like a misbehaving child. we laughed until our stomachs hurt.
my sister loves to sing and isn't half bad, well compared to me she's amazing. no, she is really good at it. her favorite genera is jazz, but there is a catch in her enjoyment. she's not black. i was listening to the Broadway Lion King soundtrack and she walks in during the Raffiki solo, sighs and says "i wish i was black, they always have great voices." this is spoken by her every time she hears a black jazz singer. it's funny to hear her always say this!

she's home!!!

so my sister got home from work yesterday and came into the kitchen where i was doing homework. as a greeting she walks up to the table whips off her hat. underneath is probably the most stellar hat hair you have ever seen. she bursts into song "YAAAAAAAA SAVETEN YAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" from lion king to present it to me.
a little later she heats up some dinner for herself, sits down and starts to devoir it trying to annoy me. she looks up at me with a mischievous look in her eye then starts chewing with a piece of fish hanging out of her mouth. she is two years older then me.
